Such a great experience on our 2nd last day in Seoul.

I wish we had gone earlier in our trip as it was so informative and educational about Korean history and culture.

Loved our tour guide Jun - he spoke great English, was very knowledgeable. He gave such a respectful and reflective account of background of each sight we visited but also had a great sense of humour!

 During the Korean War, more than 1,000,000 people were separated from their family.

They always missed each other and wished for unification.

Today, I will show you where they wished.

This is a place to do the worship.

Thought the Korean War, many people lost their family.

In Korea, we have to big national holiday: Korea’s new year and thanks giving.

In that two holidays all of the family gather together but for those who lost their family, they come this place.

In 1983, after 30 years of truce, finally a reunion of separated families was made for the first time.

For KBS(Korea’s broad casting system), they filmed that moment and broadcast it about 138 days nonstop live show.

The song “lost 30 years” was played as a back ground music for that TV show.

It was very special because it was mega hit in both South and North Korea.

So it was made as a Monument.
